"Drawing Machine" - 2009
(wood, steel, paper, rope)
Description: Using an array of simple mechanical pulleys and levers, this machine operates like a large-scale etch-a-sketch. A spring loaded marker is moved along both the x and y axis of a roll of paper backed by a piece of wood. The "up-and-down" function of the machine is controlled with the back and forth movement of the participants hips. The "side-to-side" movement is controlled with their left and right hand. Participants immerse themselves in a full body drawing experience that breaks away from their typical understanding of a 2D drawing experience.
